As A Result Of The Flood In Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, 7 People Were Found Dead

JAKARTA - A total of 7 people were found dead due to the floods that hit Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, Saturday, May 11, at 21.00 WIB.

"Seven bodies are currently in the identification process at the local hospital," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari in his statement, Sunday, May 12.

Abdul explained that this flood incident started with high-intensity rain hitting the area. As a result, there was a flood that hit five sub-districts in Tanah Datar Regency.

The 5 sub-districts that have been visited are X Koto District, Batipuh District, Pariangan District, Lima Kaum District, and Sungai Tarab District.

"The temporary rapid assessment was recorded that 25 families were affected, 24 houses were affected, and 12 bridge units were affected," he said.

He said the impact of this flood also left mud deposits high enough to reach the adult's calf.

So that the local BPBD in addition to carrying out search and rescue efforts, they are also trying to clean up the Batusangkar - Padang Panjang road which is affected by mud deposits. Heavy equipment was deployed to accelerate the cleaning of this road access.

"However, until Sunday (12/5) afternoon, the focus of emergency handling is on making search and rescue efforts," he concluded.
