Playoff Rules Towards The 2024 Paris Olympics, Indonesia U-23 Only Filled With 22 Players

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team is only allowed to bring 22 players to appear in the playoffs to the 2024 Paris Olympics. This means that Shin Tae-yong will cross out one name.

The provisions for the number of players are known from the regulations for the 2024 Paris Olympics soccer competition. The players who are allowed to enter the squad for the finals and the playoffs consist of only 22 names.

"A maximum of 22 players are allowed to be part of the match," the Paris 2024 Olympic football sport regulations wrote on the FIFA website, quoted on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

With these provisions, the maximum number of players in one team at the 2024 Paris Olympics is reduced from the number played in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

Previously, each team could include 23 players in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

Based on the regulation, the captain of the U-23 Indonesian national team, Rizky Ridho, is certainly not included in the 22-player squad. The problem is, he is being sanctioned due to a red card in the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

Ridho's sentence is still in effect because the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup is related to the 2024 Paris Olympics which is also a qualifying round.

Without Ridho, his vacant position will be filled by Alfeandra Dewangga. Currently Dewangga has joined the other players in Paris.

In the inter-confederation playoffs, the U-23 Indonesian national team will face Guinea U-23 at Clairefontaine, France, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 20.00 WIB.

This match will be the last ticket for the men's soccer sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The winner of the playoffs will later enter Group A. The group is already filled with French hosts who are waiting with the United States and New Zealand.
