Vesak Long Holiday, InJourney Targets 50,000 Tourists Visiting Borobudur Temple

JAKARTA - The holding of SOEs in the Aviasi and Tourism sector, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney targets tourist visits to Borobudur Temple to reach 50,000 people during the long holiday period or the long weekend of Waisak 2024.

The holiday period set is starting from the peak day of the Vesak celebration on Thursday, May 23 to Sunday, May 26.

InJourney Tourism Marketing and Program Director Maya Watono said that not only direct visits to Borobudur Temple, his party also targets wider audiences to participate in watching the 2024 Vesak process through camera captures.

"Our target is 40 to 50,000 visitors. Because this happens to be a long weekend from Thursday to Sunday, we have various series of events. So we hope that there will be 40 to 50,000 visitors," he said at a press conference, in Sarinah, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 8.

"Also pairs of eyes throughout Indonesia and around the world look at Borobudur Temple on the 23rd to long weekend," he continued.

In addition, Maya said, the Tri Suci Vesak Day Celebration in the Borobudur Temple area is not only about celebrating religious rituals, but also about knitting the spirit of tolerance and harmony in the diversity of Indonesian people.

Through cross-sectoral collaboration, Maya also hopes to raise the universal values of Borobudur Temple as a global holistic spiritual center.

"This time we want to prioritize sacredness, sincerity, the pleasure of praying together for this Vesak itself," he said.

"So it's not just tourism or celebration, but we put forward a sacred, solemn celebration for Vesak Day, especially on the 23rd of the Vesak seconds," he said.
