During 2023 Financial Phishing Is Still The Main Threat Of Individuals And Organizations

JAKARTA - Kaspersky's latest annual Financial Threat Report, shows that there is a significant increase in mobile banking and phishing malware related to crypto assets.

Based on the report, in the last 12 months in 2023, the number of users facing mobile banking Trojans, with attacks on Android users soaring by 32 percent compared to the previous year.

The most common banking trojans identified by Kaspersky included Bian.h, which covers 22 percent of all Android attacks. Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan recorded the highest number of users facing the banking Trojan.

Despite this, the report notes that the number of users affected by financial PC malware has decreased by 11 percent in 2023.

In general, in 2023, financial phishing is still a significant threat, accounting for 27.32 percent of all phishing attacks on corporate users and 30.68 percent of individual users.

Kaspersky's report also highlights the growth of phishing related to crypto assets by 16 percent year-on-year, with 5.84 million detections by 2023 compared to 5.04 million by 2022.

The proof is that Kaspersky managed to prevent 5,838,499 attempts to follow a phishing link with the theme of crypto assets, an increase of 16 percent compared to 2022.
