Garut Regency Government Extends Emergency Response Period For Movable Land Disasters
GARUT - Garut Regency Government has extended the emergency response period for three sub-districts after landslides and land fires moved for the next 14 days. The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Garut Regency, Nurdin Yana, that this decision was taken because there were still concerns about further disasters.
"Yes (the damage) of infrastructure is actually relatively smaller than the relocation related to houses. God willing, it has been handled by PUPR who also asked for a road to the relocation site," said Nurdin, Wednesday, May 8.
In addition, the decision to extend this is also due to the uneven distribution of jobs in the field, which is followed by the second emergency response. He also said that he had evaluated the technical steps taken by related parties in dealing with landslides and land movements in Banjarwangi District, Cisompet District, and Pakenjeng District.
"I tried to check each technical one, how their steps were moved when they were walking. Alhamdulillah, all of them have shown according to their respective functionalities," he said.
Nurdin also reminded every related SKPD to increase disaster management efforts during this disaster emergency response period. He emphasized that this is the responsibility of the local government to carry out recovery in the current condition of the community.
Meanwhile, the Head of BPBD Garut Regency, totaling Anwar Saifullah, explained that the relocation had been carried out on 70 residents' houses, of which 63 houses were moved to new places, such as Talagajaya Village, Banjarwangi District as many as 15 houses and Sukamulya Village, Pakenjeng District as many as 48 houses.

Meanwhile, the rest of the houses carried out independent relocation. The total loss due to this disaster reached Rp. 8 billion, including damage to houses, assets, and agricultural products.
"If the centralized relocation later goes to the prepared place, we all have to move. If we relocate independently, we will give stimulant assistance because they provide their own land," he said.
