149 Illegal Oil Wells In Batanghari Are Forced To Close Jambi Police

The Jambi Regional Police together with a joint team from Korem 042 Gapu, Batanghari Regency Government and Pertamina closed hundreds of illegal oil wells in Bungku Village, Bajungbang District, Batanghari Regency.

Head of Sub-Directorate for Tipiter Ditreskrimsus Jambi Police AKBP Reza Khomeini said this oil mining activity without a permit had penetrated the Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Batanghari.

"According to the data we saw, it has penetrated the Tahura area, so we came back here to carry out control," he said.

Reza emphasized that after the closure of this oil well without a permit, all parties could control so that there would be no more illegal oil mining activities in Jambi.

Of course, he said, it takes the seriousness of all parties, in the future it is hoped that there will be a joint task force to control this illegal activity so that it does not happen again

This Joint Team was divided into three groups and this operation was carried out for seven days, starting Monday. This operation targets to close all illegal oil wells in Bungku Village. From the data, there are 149 illegal oil wells in the area.

Reza said the illegal oil wells, which have been operating for a long time and damage the environment, were permanently closed using cement.

Not only that, hundreds of personnel from this joint team also closed illegal oil wells around Pertamina's business area using heavy equipment.

Reza said that when closing illegal wells in that location, no one was at the location mining illegal oil.

He revealed that the owners of the well covered their illegal oil mines using palm oil.

Head of Intelligence Korem 042 Garuda Putih Infantry Colonel M Imasfy said in the closing of the illegal oil well on the first day officers had closed 30 wells.

"On this first day, we have taken action against 30 illegal oil wells and tomorrow we will continue again," he said.
