Competing Ridwan Kamil, PKB Prepares Cadres To Become Cagubs Of West Java

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) has prepared two party cadres to be promoted as candidates for Governor of West Java in the 2024 Pilkada. They are Deputy Secretary General of PKB Syaiful Huda and Chairman of the PKB DPP Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal.

This was revealed by Syaiful Huda during the event for the selection of candidates for regional heads for Banten, DKI Jakarta and West Java sessions.

Huda said that the West Java gubernatorial candidate who would later be promoted by PKB would become a rival to former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. As is known, Ridwan Kamil is being prepared by Golkar to re-run as an incumbent in the 2024 Pilkada.

"The West Java PKB ensures that the governor will build a axis outside Ridwan Kamil. It is not a match. Maybe it will become a competitor," said Huda in Jakarta, Thursday, May 2.

PKB is confident that it can bring its cadres to become West Java cagubs. Given, PKB received an increase in the number of seats in the West Java DPRD to 15 seats from the previous 12 in the 2019 Pilkada.

Thus, the party led by Muhaimin Iskandar only needs about 9 additional seats from other political parties in the coalition to carry the candidate for Governor of West Java.

"In principle, God willing, there is an agreement that PKB will carry a candidate for governor. We will hand over the deputy governor to the coalition party which will later ensure joining the PKB because it needs 1 additional coalition party," said Huda.

However, Huda has not been able to confirm which party will be invited by PKB in a coalition to carry the candidate for governor of West Java from within his party.

"I can't tell you yet. What is clear is that the West Java PKB ensures that it can carry the axis outside of Kang Ridwan Kamil," he said.

On the other hand, PKB has also prepared party cadres to be promoted in other provinces, namely the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta.

In addition, a number of other political figures have also visited PKB to register as candidates for regional head. They include former North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi who wants to run again in the North Sumatra gubernatorial election.

Then, there were also two Golkar Party cadres, namely former South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany who registered with PKB to advance in the Banten gubernatorial election, and former Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar to run in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election.
