Inaugurate The Church In Cilodong, Mayor Of Depok Urges Residents To Maintain Tolerance
Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris was present and inaugurated the establishment of the Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) Bakal Congregation (Bajem) in Kalibaru Village, Cilodong District, Depok City, West Java. He also gave a speech on the day of inauguration, Wednesday, May 1.
"With the existence of the church, it can increase the conducive and peaceful atmosphere, of course by understanding the right behavior for the community and congregation," said Mohammad Idris as quoted by ANTARA.
The inauguration of the GKI church, Mohammad Idris, was greeted by dances from various tribes in Indonesia, including from Batak, Toraja, Java, and Chinese accompanied the arrival of invited guests.
"Hopefully, we want the existence of a church to increase the conducive and peaceful atmosphere," he said.
Moreover, the existence of this church is adjacent to the Protestant Batak Christian Huria Church (HKBP), so coordination is important.
"Because if there are traditional disorders, perceptions in worship should not cause things that are not desirable," he said.
According to Idris, externally he also wants the contribution of the church in assisting government programs. One of them is the family's resilience program in providing understanding of parenting and preventing divorce cases.

Then, he said, the role of religious leaders is also needed regarding tolerance, of course by providing information to the congregation so that there is no wrong understanding.
"Religious figures here are very important, there should not be certain cases and be generalized into wrong conclusions and conclude an understanding of intolerance," concluded Idris.
