JAKARTA - Microsoft has officially revealed the value of its investment in Indonesia of IDR 27.6 trillion to transform digitally in the development of cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

However, furthermore, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi also said that the collaboration which will last for four years will be expected to increase AI skills against 840 thousand digital talents in the country.

"For four years, it has scored 840 thousand digital talent specifically for AI in Indonesia. Earlier I told you, detailed after this meeting, we detailed everything with Microsoft. 840 thousand in four years, a year to 210 thousand young people, we can train our skills to master AI technology," Budi said on Tuesday, April 30 in Jakarta.

The increase in the digital skills of the Indonesian people is also considered very important, in addition to the development of AI infrastructure. Because, as humans, we must be able to master the technology ourselves.

"People should not think that investment builds physical or all kinds of things, building human human capital is very valuable with knowledge, mastery of technology, this can be the capital of our nation to compete in the future," he added.

Microsoft also plans to build an AI research center between Bali and the capital city of the archipelago (IKN). However, it is possible that this potential cooperation will take place in more sectors.

"Indonesia is rich in green energy. So, digitalization of technology, digital renewable energy, it's extraordinary the driving force for future and sustainable changes, right. Indonesia has that potential, and the trend in the future of the data center must use green energy," concluded Budi.
