Mount Ruang Paksa Eruption At Sam Ratulangi Airport Temporarily Closed

MANADO - The burst of volcanic ash from Mount Ruang in Tagulandang, Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi (Sulut), which erupted again on Tuesday, April 30, forced Sam Ratulangi Airport (Samrat) to be temporarily closed.

"With the eruption of volcanic ash reaching Sam Ratulangi Airport, we have decided to temporarily close the airport in accordance with Notam," said General Manager of Samrat Airport, Maya Damayanti, quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, April 30.

He explained that based on observations of the volcanic ash activity of Mount Ruang and Notam: A1144/24 NOTAMN, this action was taken to maintain the safety and security of operational flights of Sam Ratulangi Airport, which will be temporarily closed until 12.00 WITA today.

"We have temporarily suspended flight activities from and to Manado until this afternoon," he added.

Sam Ratulangi International Airport previously operated again after being closed for six days due to the volcanic ash of Mount Ruang that erupted on April 16, 2024. The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) announced that the airport began operating again on Monday, April 22.

However, after the period subsided for about 10 days after the first eruption, the Ruang Volcano in Sitaro Islands Regency erupted again on Tuesday (30/4/2024) in the morning and this morning at 08.35 WIB.
