BNPB Records 267 Residents' Houses Damaged By Garut Earthquake

BANDUNG - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that as many as 267 houses were damaged after an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 that hit the Garut Regency, West Java, on Saturday, April 27 evening."As of today, Monday at 04.00 WIB, the total number of affected houses is 267 units," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a statement received in Bandung, Antara, Monday, April 29.BPBD from districts/cities is still identifying the level of damage and data collection of other impacts after the earthquake.As for the details based on the extent of the damage, namely, eight houses were heavily damaged, 56 houses were moderately damaged, 191 houses were slightly damaged, 12 houses were affected.Of these, he continued, the most damage occurred in Bandung Regency as many as 51 houses, Ciamis Regency 46 houses, Garut Regency 42 houses, Sukabumi Regency 17 houses, Tasikmalaya Regency 21 houses, and Tasikmalaya City as many as 24 houses."In the affected house, BNPB is still waiting for information from BPBD which still determines the extent of the damage," he said.After the effort is completed, the West Java BPBD together with districts and cities, he continued, will immediately repair public facilities, clean up material impacts from the earthquake, and repair residents' houses.In addition to residences or houses, the earthquake that occurred on Saturday night also damaged public facilities, such as places of worship, schools, offices, and health facilities or hospitals.
Meanwhile, BPBD recorded 11 injured. Two of them were injured in Garut Regency, three in Bandung, and two in Ciamis."Until now there have been no reports of casualties due to the 6.2 magnitude earthquake," he said.
