Prabowo Admits That NU Needs Power To Lead The Country For The Next 5 Years

President-elect Prabowo Subianto admitted that he and the elected vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka needed the strength of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in building the government for the next five years.

This was revealed by Prabowo in a halalbihalal event held by the NU Executive Board (PBNU) at the PBNU office, Central Jakarta, Sunday, April 28.

"We need that, among others, the strength of Nahdlatul Ulama, moderate Islamic mass organizations, inclusive Islamic forces, Islamic forces that are rahmatan lil alamin, Islamic forces that have no sense of inferiority, have great trust," he said. Prabowo feels unable to solve the country's problems only with Gibran and his cabinet in the future. Prabowo also needs the support of other religious figures.

"Because, with the support of these forces, as well as from the strengths of other elements, elements of Christianity, Hindu clerics, Buddhist elements, elements of all groups in Indonesia, we will jointly maintain the safety of the nation," explained Prabowo.

Meanwhile, PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya views Prabowo-Gibran as part of the NU family. This is evidenced by his presence at the event.

"If there is currently, Pak Prabowo Subianto and Mas Gibran Rakabuming Raka as president and vice president are elected, yes, although his presence clearly has a special context, he is present as a member of our family, the NU family," explained Yahya.

Yahya also emphasized that NU is a community organization that oversees the government's agenda related to community welfare. This, according to Yahya, has been done during President Jokowi's administration and will be continued in the Prabowo-Gibran government.

"From the start, we also want to convey that in the future Nahdlatul Ulama will never be together with the upcoming presidential government, Pak Prabowo and Mas Gibran," said Yahya.
