JAKARTA - Air quality in Jakarta this morning is categorized as unhealthy and occupies the 10th position as the city with the worst air in the world.
Based on data from the IQAir air quality monitoring site at 07.02 WIB, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Jakarta is at 122 or is categorized as unhealthy with PM2.5 air pollution and a concentration value of 44 micrograms per cubic meter.
This concentration is equivalent to 8.8 times the annual air quality guide value of the World Health Organization (WHO). PM 2.5 is an air particle that is small in size from 2.5 microns (micrometers).
The category is unhealthy, namely the air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups because it can harm humans or groups of animals that are sensitive or can cause damage to plants or aesthetic values with a PM2.5 range of more than 100.
The moderate category, namely the quality of the air that has no effect on human or animal health but has an effect on plants that are sensitive and aesthetic value with a PM2.5 range of 51-100.
The good category, namely the level of air quality that does not have an effect on human or animal health and does not affect plants, buildings or aesthetic values with a PM2.5 range of 0-50.
Meanwhile, the category is very unhealthy with a PM2.5 range of 200-299 or its air quality can be detrimental to health in a number of segments of the population exposed.
Lastly, dangerous (300-500) or in general its air quality can harm people's serious health in the population.
The worst-order city of air quality is Kathmandu (Nepal) at 173, second-order Beijing (China) at 168, third-order Baghdad (Irak) at 166, fourth-place Hanoi(Vietnam) at 160 and fifth-placed Medan City (Indonesia) at 156.
