Residents Of Victims Of The North Sulawesi Space Eruption Will Be Relocated To New Villages, Infrastructure Is Worked On By PUPR

JAKARTA - Governor of North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) Olly Dondokambey said residents affected by the eruption of Mount Ruang in Sitaro Islands Regency would be relocated. "The plan is that they will be relocated from there (space Island)," said Olly in Manado, Friday, April 26, which was confiscated by Antara. The relocation plan, he continued, had been communicated with residents who previously lived on the Island of Ruangan and most of them stated that they asked for relocation. "During the working visit of Deputy Governor Steven Kandouw there, the public was asked about the relocation. Most asked for relocation, "said the Governor. The provincial government will coordinate with relevant agencies to find a place that will later become a relocation location for residents of the Island of Space.

"The Ministry of PUPR will build a house, while we will prepare the land. It will later become a new village location, we will look for a location that is close to it," he said.

Olly added that infrastructure such as roads, schools and houses of worship will be prepared by the Ministry of PUPR.

During the eruption of Mount Ruang on April 16, 2024, two villages/villages, namely Pumpente Village (332 people) and Laingpatehi Village (506 people) were evacuated to Tagulandang Island. They currently occupy the main post in Apengsala Village. Recently, the Deputy Governor and the ranks of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) saw the condition of refugees together with infrastructure affected by the eruption of Mount Ruangan.
