Minister Of Transportation Offers Investment Of 6 Jakarta MRT TOD Projects To Japanese Investors
JAKARTA Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi offered to invest in six Jakarta MRT Transit Oriented Development (TOD) projects to Japanese investors.
Budi made the offer to the Parliamentary Vice Minister for MLIT Ishibashi while attending the TOD Investment Forum 2024, at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Thursday, April 25.
"TOD is important because there the value of commerciality can be obtained and one solution to overcome congestion and pollution. This cannot be implemented by the government itself," he said in an official statement, Thursday, April 25.
Budi said the Indonesian government supports and is ready to facilitate TOD development investment along the MRT route as a solution to congestion, pollution, and the need for sustainability transportation in Jakarta.
Especially since operating in 2019, continued Budi, the Jakarta MRT has laid a strong foundation for TOD projects, by providing an efficient and reliable transportation network that creates many opportunities for private sector collaboration including real estate, retail, hospitality, and others.
"On behalf of the Government of Indonesia, I am committed to providing support for this activity. We will help so that what we are doing today can be properly realized," he said.
According to Budi, the development of TOD around MRT Jakarta stations will offer unique investment and innovation opportunities, as well as create a connected environment between residential, commercial, and recreational spaces.
By strategically integrating the transportation network, Budi said, TOD not only increases connectivity and accessibility, but also improves the welfare of Jakarta residents and the economic growth of Jakarta.
"In the midst of the development of Jakarta, which is no longer the capital city, there are many opportunities that can be developed because Jakarta will become a trading city. That this is a golden opportunity to carry out development. Along the MRT route, such as from North-South and East-West, there are many strategic and commercial points so that when the MRT is completed, this can be used," he said.
For information, the six projects offered on this occasion are the development of Mixed Use Blok M, Pedestrian Deck Sudirman Hub Dukuh Atas, Revitalization of Sudirman Station, Extended Concourse Roundabout HI, Extended Concourse Fatmawati, and Revitalization of West Setiabudi Reservoir.
