VIDA Highlights Risks Occurred Due To AI-Based Fraud, Especially Deepfakes

JAKARTA - Along with the introduction of VIDA Deepfake Shield, PT Indonesia Digital Identity (VIDA) released the white paper 'WHAT THE FAKE?'

Based on a survey conducted by VIDA on business professionals in Indonesia, nearly 52 percent of respondents could not remember deepfake as the main threat of artificial intelligence today.

On the other hand, 34 percent of business people in Indonesia admit that they have never heard of investment indeepfakes. In fact, 90 percent of business professionals in Indonesia don't know how to protect their companies from internalfake fraud.

The top four industries that have the highest risk of deepfakes are Fintech (72 percent), Finance (70 percent), E-Commerce (58 percent), and also Telecommunications (52 percent).

According to VIDA, some of the impacts caused by AI-based fraud such as deepfakes include:

Real-TimeDeepfake Identity Verification can cause financial losses directly from transaction fraud, in addition to expensive legal consequences and potential fines for data breaches.

AI-based scams such as deepfakes can have bad consequences for the company's reputation, which causes loss of customer confidence and potential business decline.

Companies often experience increased operating costs after incidents of deepfake fraud, including investment in security technology, are more sophisticated.

Companies need to adjust security strategies, improve media communication surveillance, and verify sources more strictly to prevent future deepfake incidents.
