Insisting On Confiscating Rafael Alun's Assets, KPK Files Cassation And Submits Contra Memories

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) filed an appeal against the verdict of former Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance Rafael Alun Trisambodo. The memory counter has been submitted through the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) on Wednesday, April 24.

"KPK Prosecutor Nur Haris Arhadi has previously stated an appeal and has submitted his counter-memory to the Central Jakarta District Court in the case of the defendant Rafael Alun Trisambodo," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, April 25.

Cassation was filed because the anti-corruption commission attempted to seize Rafael's assets. For the purpose of asset recovery as explained in the letter of demand,' he said.

"In addition, the team of prosecutors in their counter-memory has denied the argument for the cassation submitted by the defendant and his team of legal advisors through the counter-cassation memorandum," continued the spokesman with the prosecutor's background.

As previously reported, Rafael Alun was previously sentenced to 14 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to three months in prison by the DKI Jakarta High Court. He was also required to pay compensation of Rp. 10,079,095,519, subsidiary to three years in prison as an additional penalty.

Even so, the judge asked for a house on Jalan Simprug Golf XIII Number 29, RT 02 RW 08, Grogol Selatan, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on behalf of Ernie Meike or Rafael's wife to be returned. While the rest, such as houses, land, and one unit of VW Carravelle cars were confiscated for the state.
