Bali's 10th WWF, BNPT Ensures Security Procedures According To International Activities

JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) said that all assessments for securing acts of terrorism in the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali were carried out with high quality related to other international activity security procedures.

"Security is carried out with high quality. Similar to other international activities, this is only more integrated," said Head of the BNPT Legal, Public Relations and Information Technology Section Lt. Col. Sus Tjandra Sulistiyono when contacted in Jakarta, Thursday, April 25, as reported by Antara.

Tjandra revealed that in accordance with Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 13 of 2024 which was issued on March 25, 2024 concerning the 10th WWF Organizing National Committee, BNPT is trusted as a member in charge of safety and health.

After the Presidential Decree was issued, he said, BNPT also held internal meetings on April 5, 2024 and April 8, 2024 regarding the involvement of institutions in WWF.

Furthermore, he said that BNPT had attended a coordination meeting chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menkomarves) in Bali on April 20, 2024, as well as a meeting in the field of security and health initiated by the TNI Headquarters on April 23, 2024.

After that, continued Tjandra, only several series of assessments were carried out, namely the location security assessment to be used, assessment of vital objects and transportation, as well as assessments of high-risk people and goods.

Then, he added, BNPT also carried out raising operations in order to create conditions consisting of raising public opinion and cyber patrols from potential threats of criminal acts of terrorism.

"All assessment activities and raising operations will be carried out from April 22, 2024 to May 17, 2024," he said.

WWF is held every three years between the World Water Council (World Water Council) and the host country. The Forum provides a unique platform where water communities and major decision makers can collaborate and make long-term progress in overcoming global water challenges.

Activities brought together participants from all levels and fields, including politics, multilateral institutions, academics, civil society, and the private sector. Over the years, the number of people participating in WWF has increased from a few hundred to tens of thousands, both from the international community and the host country.

This year, WWF will be held in Bali, Indonesia on 18-25 May 2024 with the theme Air for Joint Welfare, led by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as general chairman and Minister of Public Planning and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono as daily chairman.
