Cengkareng Thugs Arrested For Taking Goods And Asking For Money At Minimarkets With THR Reasons

JAKARTA - RN (40), a fugitive for extortion of a number of minimarkets, was finally arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police in his rented room on Tuesday, April 23.

In the action, the man who was nicknamed a village thug by local residents blackmailed the victim with the THR Lebaran mode. In fact, the suspect extorted a number of minimarket stores in Cengkareng.

"There are 3 minimarket stores in West Jakarta, where the modus operandi of the perpetrators is to extort THR Eid al-Fitr," said Cengkareng Police Chief, Police Commissioner Hasoloan Situmorang when confirmed, Tuesday, April 23.

According to Police Commissioner Hasoloan, the perpetrator and the minimarket shop had no work relationship but the perpetrator asked for money and goods.

"The method was when the perpetrator handed over the goods at the cashier and then the shopkeeper handed over the purchase receipt. But the perpetrator did not want to pay," he said.

The suspect also threatened the shopkeeper if he did not give his request, the perpetrator would deflate the tires of the vehicle parked in front of the shop.

"The perpetrators managed to carry out extortion and the total varied. Starting from hundreds of thousands to millions of goods," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code concerning extortion with a penalty of 9 years in prison.
