Jokowi Visits SMK Negeri 1 Rangas Mamuju, Promises To Build Dormitory For Students
MAMUJU - President Joko Widodo directly inspected the educational facilities at SMK Negeri 1 Rangas, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province, as one of the objects affected by the Mamuju earthquake in 2021.President Jokowi assessed that school buildings were better than before the earthquake. Jokowi also stated that he would fulfill the school's request to build dormitories for students."Earlier, the Principal told me, 'Sir, this is still lacking, children need dormitories because many live far from school, so there must be a lot of boarding houses (dekos) scattered around the school.' Yes, we will soon build the dormitory, at the request of the principal, the Regent, and the Governor," Jokowi said based on an official statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, April 23.While reviewing SMKN 1 Rangas, President Jokowi also saw a laboratory for automotive engineering practices. The President listened to the explanation and saw that a number of students were repairing manual transmission cars and installing car tires.The Head of State said that now is the time for electric cars so that the practice of this is very necessary. Seeing this, President Jokowi also complied with the school's request for the procurement of electric cars."Because in the place of practice there are only 'combustion' cars, old manual cars, even though now there are many and the times of electric cars, so it is also necessary to practice what their contents are in electric cars. This afternoon I sent electric cars for practice, not for driving," said the President in his remarks.On this occasion, President Jokowi also gave a quiz with a bicycle prize.Two lucky students took home a bicycle after successfully answering the challenge of reading Pancasila.
Also accompanying President Jokowi in the activity were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Acting Governor of West Sulawesi Zudan Arif Fakhrullloh, and Regent of Mamuju Sitti Sutinah Suradi.
