PLN's Air Cable Caught Fire, Almost Spreading To Luxury Houses In Ciracas

JAKARTA - A series of aerial cables that transversely in front of the residents' houses of Jalan Komplek Kebersihan, RT 02/09, Ciracas Village, Ciracas District, East Jakarta, caught fire on Sunday, April 21, evening.

The incident had made local residents worried because the sparks that burned the cable continued to grow and spread.

"The object that caught fire was a PLN cable and a wifi (optical fiber) cable. The length of the cable that caught fire was 5 meters belonging to PLN," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed.

The fire that spread on the aerial cable did not last long after the watering of 2 fire engines.

"Currently the blackout has been completed after the watering was carried out by 6 firefighters. The fire was also assisted by fire extinguishers," he said.

Luckily, the sparks that burned the cable did not spread and set fire to residents' houses. Moreover, the location of the fire is in an elite residential environment.

"The cause is suspected to be due to an electrical short circuit. According to information from the reporter, there has been an ignition on the power cable, then the reporter came to the 9th sector office in Ciracas," he said.
