So The Main Focus, Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Says The RI Energy Security Level Is At The Level 6.6
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif chaired the second session of the National Energy Council (DEN) in 2024 which discussed strategic issues in the energy sector, including discussing Indonesia's energy security, anticipation of crisis and/or emergency conditions. energy (KRISDAREN) the impact of heating up geopolitical situations in the Middle East, as well as the General Plan for Regional Energy (RUED).
Arifin said that Indonesia's energy resistance was at the level of 6.6. This indicates that Indonesia's energy security status is in a "hold" position. This status is obtained based on predetermined criteria.
"There are several criteria for points, namely availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. We need to re-evaluate the immunity whether it reflects the existing conditions," he said, quoted on Saturday, April 20.
Furthermore, Arifin explained the factors that will strengthen the national energy security index, namely in terms of availability of how Indonesia can exploit oil and gas sources that have emerged. Like in the Clastic petroleum field in Cepu, the Non Conventional Oil and Gas Well (MNK) in Rokan, and most recently in Buton with large oil potential.
"For our gas, there are still quite a lot of exports, around 25 percent of the total production of nearly 1 million barrels of oil equivalent, new gas potentials like Masela will operate by 2030, then North Gangs will produce in 2027, there are also Andaman and others," added Arifin.
The government, said Arifin, is also accelerating the diesel to gas conversion program, considering the large use of diesel fuel, which is around 3 million Kilo liters (KL). In addition, the conversion of two-wheeled vehicles based on gasoline into electricity has also been carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, but it is still not running optimally.

"We have a program to convert electric motors from compensation to batteries, only we need support to be able to get aid subsidy allocations to be able to encourage conversion from the community," he explained.
In addition, regulation is also an important factor to strengthen national energy security, Arifin said that the Draft Law on New Energy Renewable Energy (RUU EBET) has not yet been inaugurated because there are still things that need to be explored further. One of them is power steering, he said that it must be completed immediately, because according to Arifin, the energy mix target will be achieved more quickly, and can increase national energy security, because its electrical energy sources are domestic.
