The Era Of Affordable And Sophisticated Electric Vehicles, Kia Confident That They Can Be Superior

JAKARTA - The global automotive industry is busy with the presence of a number of electric vehicles (EVs) that are not only affordable, but also sophisticated. This threatens other manufacturers who are not ready for competition in this segment. However, Kia believes they are able to provide EVs at affordable prices faster than their competitors, while bringing more advanced technology.

"We are at the forefront in many ways, and we are trying to move forward as our technology will continue to develop," said Kia America Chief Operating Officer Steve Center, quoted by Automotive News, Friday, April 19.

The South Korean brand will also take advantage of Hyundai Motor Group's EV manufacturing and battery facilities near Georgia, United States (US) to expand its electric vehicle portfolio. The facility is scheduled to be operational in October and will produce six electric vehicles from the Kia, Hyundai, and Genesis brands. Reportedly, Kia will also move EV9 production to its plant in West Point, Georgia, USA, which has increased.

The Center also noted that Kia's early approach to the market will give an advantage in the future and make it difficult for other brands to enter the market.

"We will sell the second and third electric vehicles to Kia customers when several other companies finally participate in this segment," said the Center.

After successfully launching EV6, EV9, and Niro EV, Kia plans to increase the number of their emission-free vehicles to eight cars by 2029. In the near future, they will launch production versions of EV3 and EV4 which are scheduled to be available around 2025 and 2026.
