ASDP It Is Considered That It Needs To Add A Pier On The Merak-Bakauheni Crossing Crossing
JAKARTA - Member of Commission V DPR Suryadi Jaya Purnama asked ASDP to add a dock on the Merak Bakauheni crossing track, where currently there are seven piers available.
"Congestion on the Merak' Bakauheni crossing during the 2024 homecoming season yesterday was due to inadequate dock infrastructure, so the ferry movement was limited," Suryadi said in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, April 18.
Furthermore, Suryadi also appreciated the Ministry of Transportation for planning to add more than a thousand ships to anticipate the density of the dock.
However, according to him, the addition of the ship should also be accompanied by improvements to management or management.
In addition to adding a dock and ship, SJP, Suryadi's nickname, also encourages improvements in crossing traffic management at Merak Bakauheni.
"And also other ports that are managed by ASDP such as Ketapang and Gilimanuk as a whole," said SJP.
Currently, the management of the ferry dock or terminal operator at Merak Bakauheni, as well as the management of ferry boats or ferry operators is carried out by ASDP.
"If ASDP cannot manage it, then the impact will be very big because it is in the same hands," he said.
Based on ANTARA's monitoring on the Tangerang 'Merak Toll Road on Sunday (7/4), there was a long queue of travelers to Merak Port, Cilegon City, Banten, which had reached 19 kilometers.

Minister of Transportation Budi added that queues up to tens of kilometers at Merak Port were triggered by the absence of ship passengers, especially travelers who were not orderly in purchasing travel tickets.
