JAKARTA - Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) managed to rank 28th out of the 100 best airports in the world 2024 (World's Top 100 Airport 2024) which was released by Skytrax. The airport managed by PT Angkasa Pura II managed to climb 15 stairs from 43rd in 2023.
The list of the 100 best airports in the world in 2024 was published by Skytrax on April 17, 2024 at the Passenger Terminal Expo event in Frankfurt, Germany.
The list of the world's best airports is set by Skytrax through an assessment of around 500 airports in the world, as well as involving customers from more than 100 countries to assess 44 service points at airports.
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Agus Wialdi said this achievement also met the AP II target, which previously announced that Soetta Airport could penetrate the top 30 of the world's best rankings.
Meanwhile, in the list of the best airports in the category of 60 to 70 million passengers per year (Best Airports 2024: 60 to 70 Million Passengers), Soekarno-Hatta Airport is ranked 5th in the world.
Furthermore, Agus said that world number 28 is the highest position at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in history. He also said this achievement was due to the hard work of all stakeholders and full support from the community, the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Transportation.
"We are grateful to all parties who have brought Soekarno-Hatta Airport to its best ranking, namely ranked 28th in the world and ranked 5th in the airport category with 60 to 70 million passengers per year," Agus Wialdi said in an official statement, Thursday, April 18.
Agus said that the success of Soetta Airport is also related to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Transformation program which will be carried out in 2023.
Where in 2023, SOE Minister Erick Thohir formed a Team to Accelerate Service, Business and Operation Transformation at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The team's focus includes Airport Expression (increasing the beauty of airport interiors), then Operational & Commercial Excellence (increasing operational and commercial aspects of airports).
Then, Customer Experience (enhancing the experience of airplane passengers at airports), Digital Exploration (adopting digitization for services and operations at airports) and Enroute Expansion (add flight capacity).
"Through the transformation program launched by the Ministry of SOEs since 2023, Soekarno-Hatta Airport is increasingly aligned with the best airports in the world and is able to improve services, operations and commercial so that world ranking is much better in 2024," Agus explained.
Meanwhile, Soetta Airport Executive General Manager Dwi Ananda said this achievement was an encouragement for all personnel to provide the best for the community, especially airplane passengers.
"We hope that this achievement will be the pride of all personnel from all stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, and also become the pride of the community. Without support from various parties, it is impossible for Soekarno-Hatta Airport to achieve this positive achievement," said Dwi Ananda.
Through the transformation program, continued Ananda, Soetta Airport has also quickly recovered from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport will reach 50.9 million passengers or reflect on the recovery rate of 93 percent compared to 2019 when there was no pandemic.
"This makes Soekarno-Hatta Airport designated as The Most Recovered Airport on the Asia-Pacific Avation Network Champions this year," said Dwi.
Furthermore, Dwi also said that Soetta Airport would further improve services to airplane passengers.
"Continuously, Soekarno-Hatta Airport continues to improve service and operational standards to maintain world ranking increases in the coming years," explained Dwi Ananda.
