Freeport Indonesia Deposits IDR 3.35 Trillion To The Papua Regional Treasury

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) reported that it has deposited around Rp3.35 trillion in the region for the company's 2023 net profit to the Central Papua Provincial Government, producer districts, and other districts in Central Papua Province.

"Payment of the regional part of the net profit is the realization of the company's commitment to boost the local government's economy," said PTFI President Director Tony Wenas, Wednesday, April 17.

Tony detailed that around Rp3.35 trillion was divided into around Rp839 billion for the Central Papua Provincial Government and the Mimika Regency Government around Rp1.4 trillion. Meanwhile, other districts in Central Papua provinces, namely Nabire, Paniai, Puncak, Puncak Jaya, Dogiyai, Deiyai, and Intan Jaya each received around Rp160 billion.

Tony continued, in 2023 PTFI succeeded in producing 1.65 billion pounds of copper and 1.97 million gold ounces.

"From the performance of PTFI's operations, PTFI managed to record a net profit of US$3.16 billion or equivalent to Rp48.79 trillion (assuming Rp15,439 per US dollar)," Tony continued.

Tony said, overall state revenues in the form of taxes, royalties, dividends, and other levies reached more than IDR 40 trillion by 2023, including contributions to regions reaching more than IDR 9 trillion.

Tony added, PTFI also continues to be committed to providing benefits to the community around the operational area through various social investment programs.

In 2023, the value of PTFI's social investment will reach almost IDR 2 trillion and will continue to increase by around 100 million US dollars or IDR 1.5 trillion per year until 2041.

Our success as a company is when people in the surrounding areas of operation increase their standard of living and welfare. We continue to grow and develop with Papua until mining operations are completed in 2041," concluded Tony.
