Mount Ruang Sitaro North Sulawesi Erupts, 838 Residents Will Be Evacuated To Tamulandang
A total of 838 residents living on Ruang Island will be evacuated to Tagulandang Island, Sitaro Islands Regency after the eruption of Mount Ruang.
"Residents have started to evacuate independently since the afternoon. We have given an appeal," said Head of the Center for Monitoring of Volcano and Disaster Mitigation of the Land Movements of Sulawesi and Maluku, Juliana DJ Rumambi ST in Manado as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 16.
Juliana said residents who had started self-evacuation since the afternoon were in the Gunung Ruang Volcano Disaster Prone Area (KRB).
"So there are two villages inhabited by residents, namely Pumpente Village as many as 332 people and Laimpatehi Village as many as 506 people are included in the KRB," he said.
The independent evacuation, he said, was especially for the elderly, sick and children.

"As much as possible they were evacuated to Tagulandang, there the head of the Tamulandang sub-district has prepared a location for the evacuated residents," he said.
Juliana said that the next handling for residents of Ruang Island who were evacuated would be carried out by the Sitaro Islands Regency Government, while PVMBG issued technical recommendations.
Previously, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) stated that Mount Ruang in Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi erupted.
The volcanic effusive eruption, which is located on the Island of Ruang, has been since 19.19 WITA.
