Malaysian Police Hunt For Shooting Suspects In KLIA
JAKARTA - Malaysian Royal Police are hunting for a man from Malaysian state who shot at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
Selangor Police Chief Dato' Hussein Bin Omar Khan CP said there was a shooting incident at the arrival gate of Klia 1 at 01.30 local time by a man.
He said police had identified the suspect who had fired twice and launched an operation to track down the suspect who is believed to have fled north.
One of the shots hit a Malaysian who was a bodyguard of the wife of the suspect in the shooting, causing the victim to be seriously injured and being treated at Cyberjaya Hospital.
As reported by ANTARA, Sunday, April 14, the results of an initial investigation revealed that the suspect in the shooting actually wanted to shoot his wife, who is a travel agent who was at the arrival gate of KlIA 1 to pick up a group of Umrah pilgrims who had just arrived.

According to him, the motive for the shooting is still under police investigation, and is classified as a case of attempted murder based on Article 307 of the Criminal Code and the Law (UU) on Firearms.
However, the Malaysian Police said the incident was private and did not involve any terrorist or group activities.
He said the situation in Klia 1 after the shooting was under control and safe.
