NewJeans Asks United States Court For Help Reveals Haters Identity On YouTube

JAKARTA - NewJeans took legal action by asking a federal court in California, United States, to order Google to reveal the identity of the person behind the YouTube account who according to him had spread defamation statements about them.According to the Ney York Times, the actions taken on March 27 were an example of the K-pop star's response to the pressure they faced from the strong online fan culture in South Korea.If NewJeana's request is granted, eating will allow ADOR, the label that houses them, to sue YouTube users in South Korea for defamation and humiliation, which is a criminal offense in the country."We regularly take legal action for violations of the artist's rights," ADOR said in a statement.Meanwhile, the NewJeans request was based on YouTube users with the @Middle7 account which has made statements that are said to have caused significant reputational damage in dozens of videos that have been viewed more than 13 million times.Previously, NewJeans filed a criminal charge against the YouTuber to a police station in Seoul. However, the case could not be continued because the YouTube account was anonymous.
Eugene Kim, NewJeans' attorney, has asked Google, who operates YouTube, about the YouTube account. After he failed, he filed the motion to court in California under federal law allowing people to obtain documents needed in overseas proceedings.
