Flood Submerged, Jalan Kraton Pasuruan, East Java, Paralyzed

PASURUAN - The National Road in Tambakrejo, Kraton District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java, was completely paralyzed due to flooding as high as 50-60 centimeters that hit the area, Tuesday morning.

"All for the safety of road users, because the inundation is quite high. Instead of many desperate to break through, we decided to close the vehicle lanes until the water recedes and the roads can be passed," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 9. Floods surrounded the Pantura (North Coast) route from the front of the Kraton Grand Mosque to the Tiga Tambakrejo intersection, resulting in traffic jams, especially from Surabaya to Pasuruan City. Not a few motorcyclists were desperate to break through the flood, causing their vehicles to strike. However, most of them chose to make a U-turn through Sukorejo or Purwosari Districts. The police were finally closing the access road around the crime scene for the safety of road users.. "As an alternative route, the Pasuruan City Police Traffic Unit directs all four-wheeled vehicles to pass through toll roads. As for two wheels from Surabaya directed towards Rembang District, and those from the east are directed through three-kraton junctions to the south. "All four-wheeled vehicles we asked for toll roads. And for motors can make a U-turn through Rembang which is from the west, and those in the east via the three-kraton intersection to the south," he said. BPBD Executor Head of Pasuruan Regency, Sugeng Hariyadi explained, the flooding was caused by very high rain intensity and lasted for hours.

Moreover, it rained all day, including in upstream areas such as Purwodadi, Pandaan, Puspo, Tosari, and others. "On top of heavy rains for a day, while seawater was also in high tide conditions, so rivers overflowed and entered people's homes," he said. In total there were five affected sub-districts. Namely Bangil, Kraton, Pohjentrek, Rembang, and Gondangwetan sub-districts. The worst is in Duyo Hamlet, Sukorejo Village, Pohjentrek District. Where the flood is 170 centimeters deep, aka almost two meters.

Sugeng appealed to residents to remain vigilant, because the weather was still not friendly. Moreover, in some areas above, it is raining again at this time. "Stay alert. Because according to the BMKG forecast, the rain is still happening today, and this morning it also rained. Hopefully the flood will not spread more," he said.
