NU And Muhammadiyah Predicted To Celebrate Eid Al-Fitr 1445 H Simultaneously

JAKARTA - Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri or Lebaran 2024 is predicted to run simultaneously, both on schedules from the Islamic government and community organizations (ormas), namely Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) to Muhammadiyah.

It is known that based on the calendar of AD, Lebaran 2024 which is regulated in a joint decree (SKB) of the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform falls on Wednesday-Thursday, 10-11 April 2024.

However, even though it has been regulated in the SKB, the exact date of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri will be determined by the isbat session to be held by the Ministry of Religion on Tuesday 9 April.

The Ministry of Religion will also conduct rukyatullhilal in 120 positions in Indonesia to determine 1 Shawwal 1445 Hijri.

In contrast to the government that determines 1 Syawal with rukyatullhilal, one of the mass organizations in Indonesia, namely Muhammadiyah, determines Eid al-Fitr by hisab method.

Muhammadiyah has set Eid al-Fitr in the announcement of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) regarding the determination of the results of Hisab Ramadan, Syawal, Dzulhijjah 1445 H.

Citing the announcement, PP Muhammadiyah determined that Eid al-Fitr 2024 falls on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Meanwhile, NU has not yet determined the date of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri. However, if you reflect on the previous year, NU's determination of 1 Syawal NU will wait for the results of the Ministry of Religion's isbat session.

Deputy Minister of Religion Saiful Rahmat Dasuki said Eid al-Fitr 2024 is also predicted to fall on April 10.

"With such conditions, God willing, on Eid al-Fitr will be held jointly for all Muslims throughout Indonesia," said the Deputy Minister of Religion, quoted on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the research expert at the BRIN Space Research Center, Prof. Thomas Djamaluddin, also predicts that Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri will coincide. The reason is, based on estimates from the BRIN Space Research Center, the new moon position has met the MABIMS criteria on April 9, 2024 evening.

"So on April 9, 2024, Maghrib has entered 1 Syawal 1445 H. So people have been takbir, it is already a limit for people to pay zakat fitrah, so that people who use the criteria for the form of hilal will also have the same decision that tomorrow it will be 1 Syawal, so Eid al-Fitr will be uniform on April 10, 2024," concluded Thomas.
