Denying Hasto About Intimidation Through Harun Masiku's Case, KPK: If You Feel, Please Report Law Enforcement

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) denies the intimidation of the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto using the case that ensnared Harun Masiku.

This was conveyed by the Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in response to Hasto's statement in the 'Sing Waras Sing Wins' discussion, last Saturday, March 30. At that time, the former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives admitted that he received a lot of intimidation, one of which was by bringing up the case of former PDIP candidate Harun Masiku.

"That's not true. If you feel intimidated by anyone, please report to law enforcement," Ali told reporters quoted on Saturday, April 6.

Ali regretted Hasto's accusations. He said the politician should not have built an opinion as a victim in the bribery case of former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

In fact, Hasto is considered to be able to help the anti-corruption commission find Harun who is still at large. "We hope that if the person concerned can inform you of Harun Masiku's whereabouts where he is today," he said.

"And if it is found, we will immediately bring it to the judicial process so that there is legal certainty," continued the spokesman with the background of this prosecutor.

Hasto in the discussion said that the KPK had asked for information regarding the Harun Masiku case. He admitted that he had given an explanation in front of investigators.

Not only Harun Masiku's case, Hasto also admitted that he was intimidated by other cases. However, he was still not afraid to tell the truth, especially regarding the 2024 presidential election.

"For me, my intimidation is getting harder to fight. Why, because Bung Karno alone dared to go in and out of prison when I didn't dare to tell the truth," he said at the time.

As previously reported, Harun has been a fugitive and has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 29, 2020. Most recently, the KPK informed that the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia had issued a red notice on behalf of Harun Masiku on Friday, July 30, 2023.
