Rizky Juniansyah Appears At The 2024 Paris Olympics With World Record Holder Status
Indonesian lifter Rizky Juniansyah holds a world record when he will appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics which will take place in the middle of this year.
Rizki received two gold medals and one silver medal when he appeared at the 2024 Weightlifting World Cup or the 2024 IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, Thursday, April 4, 2024.
The two gold medals each came from a clean & jerk of 201 kilograms and a total lift of 365 kilograms. Meanwhile, the silver medal was obtained from the snatch force with an lift of 164 kilograms.
The total force made Rizki now hold a world record. He shifted his compatriot, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, who made a total lift of 363 kilograms while appearing at the Weightlifting World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Rizki is now ahead of Rahmat Erwin, both from snatch, clean & jerk, and total force. The results obtained in Phuket automatically made Rizki represent Indonesia in the 73 kilogram class at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He became the ninth Indonesian athlete to make sure to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. From weightlifting, he followed his senior, Eko Yuli Irawan, who had already qualified in the 61 kilograms class.
Tickets to Paris have also been secured by Arif Dwi Pangestu (panahan), Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi (rocket climbing), Rifda Irfanaluthfi (in artistic six), Diananda Choriunisa (flood), Rahmad Adi Mulyono (rocket climbing), Fathur Gustafian (shooting), and Rio Waida (surple).
Indonesia is aiming for the target to pass more than 28 athletes to Paris later. If this happens, the number will be above the athletes who qualified at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In addition, Indonesia also wants to make history by bringing home more than two gold medals for the first time in the Olympics.
