Criticism Of AI Meta For Not Being Able To Create Images Of Mixed Couples
JAKARTA - Meta, Facebook's parent company, has come under sharp criticism for its AI image-making tools after users discovered that the bot was unable to produce images of mixed pairs of races. Even though Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is married to an Asian woman, AI Meta cannot imagine a pair of racial mixtures.
The Meta AI tool, launched in December 2023, has the ability to turn almost every written prompt into a realistic image in seconds. However, users found that when asked to create images of a mixed race pair, such as an Asian man with a white woman, AI Meta failed to produce accurate results.
An analysis by Mia Satto, a reporter at The Verge, shows that AI Meta tends to produce images of East Asian men and women in various situations, even when specific prompts about mixed pairs of races are given.

Criticism of AI Meta is not only about the lack of accurate representations of racial mixed relationships, but also highlights the possibility of racial bias in such technologies. Many commentators on social media accuse AI Meta of being a real example of racial bias embedded in technology, calling it a "racist software created by racist engineers".
Meanwhile, Meta has not yet provided an official response to the allegations. However, this adds to the controversial record regarding the use of AI in creating images and potential bias influences in the development of such technology.
