Vice President Asks AGO To Completely Investigate PT Timah's Corruption Case That Dragged Crazy Rich
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked that the alleged corruption case of PT Timah's trading system which has the potential to harm the state amounting to Rp271 trillion be thoroughly investigated.
This was conveyed by the Vice President in a press statement after witnessing the inauguration of the Regional Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance (KDEKS) in Manado, North Sulawesi, Thursday, April 4.
"Regarding the Timah problem, I think we are really concerned about this. Therefore, I ask that this case be investigated and returned so that the money taken illegally is returned to the government so that it can be used for the welfare of the community," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA.
The vice president also appealed to other mining companies that have the potential to commit similar fraud to be more supervised.
"If something happens, it will also be processed legally. Companies that have not, so that they are guarded so that what happens in the Tin does not also flow or are also affected by other mines," said the Vice President.

For information, PT Timah was initially dragged into a corruption case after the AGO named five suspects related to the alleged corruption case in the tin commodity trading system for the Mining Business Permit (IUP) PT Timah Tbk. 2015 to 2022. One of them named as a suspect is the former President Director of PT Timah Tbk. Mochtar Riza Pahlevi Tabrani.
Mochtar is suspected of having accommodated illegal mining activities in the PT Timah IUP area.
After that, he and other suspects collected funds from illegal miners and managed the corruption fund, one of which was by establishing a puppet company and laundering money through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provider.
