Golkar Reluctant To Talk About Revision Of MD3 Law, Still Focusing On Legislative And Presidential Election Disputes
JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from the Golkar faction, Lodewijk F Paulus, is reluctant to speak at length about the revision of Law (RUU) Number 17 of 2014 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD (MD3) which are included in this year's Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
Lodewijk emphasized that Golkar has not planned to change the MD3 Law because it is still focused on the presidential and legislative dispute process first. Moreover, according to him, it is not good to talk about the revision of the law in the midst of no certainty about the allocation of political party seats in parliament.
"We are still concentrating on discussing the dispute over the legislative election, the presidential election, while the seats (chairman of the DPR) have not been discussed. So if we don't know how many seats we don't know yet, there is no certainty, of course it's not good, we already want to discuss (UU) MD3," said Lodewijk, Thursday, April 4.
Lodewijk emphasized that discussions on plans to revise the MD3 Law will be carried out later. Because Golkar is still focused on guarding the dispute over the legislative and presidential elections until there is a decision from the Constitutional Court (MK).
"There will be a time later. So we are temporarily waiting," said the Secretary General of Golkar.
Previously, the Deputy Speaker of the DPR from the Gerindra faction, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, emphasized that the DPR RI agreed not to revise the laws of the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD (UU MD3) until the end of the term of office of members of the council for the 2019-2024 period was completed.

Dasco initially responded to the matter of revising the MD3 Law into the national legislation program (Prolegnas). Dasco said that the revision of this law had been planned to enter the National Legislation Program since 2019 along with dozens of other laws.
However, Dasco emphasized that changes did not occur in the chapter regarding the chair of the DPR. This means that the position of chairman of the DPR is still held by members of the council who come from political parties that win the election.
"I haven't checked whether it is true that it is included in the Priority Prolegnas Law, because as far as we know it was planned some time ago, in order to make adjustments to the number or several articles deemed necessary. But not for the change of leadership composition," said Dasco, Thursday, April 4.
The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party admitted that he had confirmed the Baleg chairman of his faction, Supratman Andi Agtas, that there were no plans to revise the MD3 Law until this period was over. Especially regarding the position of chairman of the DPR.
"But after I checked, I just checked with the chairman of the baleg that it was just an exhibition, so that the majority of us can agree with the party in parliament not to revise the MD3 Law until the end of the current term of office of members of the DPR," said Dasco.
