Jasa Marga Wants Three New Congestion Points During The 2024 Eid Homecoming Flow

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (JSMR) warned that there are three points prone to congestion or new congestion on toll roads during the 2024 Eid homecoming flow.

Jasa Marga President Director Subakti Syukur said this new density point was found based on the prediction of traffic volume during homecoming and return flow. Therefore, Jasa Marga is preparing mitigation steps.

"Here we convey points prone to density and mitigation. So, (signs) of blue stars are new density-prone points that will occur in 2024," Subakti said in a hearing (RDP) with Commission VI of the DPR RI at the Parliament Building. Senayan, Jakarta, quoted Thursday, April 4.

"With the significant increase in traffic volume in Lebaran 2024, Jasa Marga has prepared a mitigation strategy and anticipated traffic density," he continued.

Based on the exposure material displayed, the first point of density is only on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road. Subakti said, there would be a potential for congestion at KM 25, which is a meeting of the Japek Toll Road with the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 2 toll road from the direction of Cimanggis and Cilincing.

Subakti emphasized that the mitigation step to be taken is traffic engineering. He said the volume of the capacity ratio (VCR) is expected to be reduced from 0.93 to 0.66 after traffic engineering.

Second, the new density point during this year's Eid homecoming will occur at KM 87 of the Trans Java (Cipali-Surabaya) Toll Road. Subakti said that his party would limit goods transport vehicles, odd-even and one-way on KM 72-KM 414 in order to reduce the potential for congestion.

Third, Subakti warned of the potential for congestion at KM 152 of the Trans Java Toll Road in Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali). This is a traffic meeting point from the Cisumdawu Toll Road and the Cikopo Toll Road.

Another additional mitigation step that will be taken is the ramp metering on the Cisumdawu Toll Road. Then, vehicles will be diverted to Cisumdawu Jaya and Paseh.

"In accordance with the coordination with Korlantas (Polri) and the Ministry of Transportation, we will maintain the VCR at around 0.7," he added.
