Plenary Degree Of Closing Session Period, DPR Recess Until May 13

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives held the 15th plenary session of the fourth trial year of the 2023-2024 session today, Thursday, April 4. With the plenary meeting closing this session period, starting tomorrow the members of the council will undergo a recess in their respective electoral districts until Monday, May 13.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, as the chair of the meeting, initially expressed deep sympathy for the victims affected by the earthquake in several areas in East Java and the victims of flood disasters that occurred in several areas in the country. "The government and stakeholders must always be on standby and mitigate the impact of natural disasters due to extreme weather," said Puan, starting her remarks in the plenary meeting room, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, April 4. Puan also touched on the challenges of the global economy, implementation and election disputes, to the achievements of the DPR during this trial period. "The DPR through the AKD has carried out its supervisory function through various meetings related to problems faced by the people, among others, the increase in the price of staple foodstuffs and ensure the availability of food distribution is maintained during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah. The mitigation of risks to rising and scarcity of food prices, securing fuel stocks during Ramadan and ahead of Lebaran 2024 homecoming, the readiness of the government in dealing with homecoming and backflows as well as ensuring that the entire series of Eid 2024 moments runs safely and under control," explained Puan. Then, Puan continued, regarding the preparation for the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage, handling of the DBD case and prevention efforts as well as controlling its transmission to be carried out integratively. In this plenary meeting, the DPR also approved the seven names of LPSK candidates who had previously undergone a fit and proper test at Commission III of the DPR RI.

"During the fourth trial period, the DPR has also carried out a fit and proper test of prospective LPSK members for the 2024-2029 term and a candidate for the public accounting firm for the 2023 BPK RI financial report," said Puan.

Puan then announced that the DPR RI will enter a recess period starting tomorrow, Friday, April 5 to Monday, May 13. The DPR will return to trial on Tuesday, May 14. "On behalf of the leadership of the DPR RI, I announce to all Indonesian people, from April 5 to May 13, 2024, the DPR RI is entering a trial period IV for the year of the 2023-2024 session. Happy to enter the recess and greet the people," said Puan. "We also wish you a happy fasting and welcome Eid al-Fitr's inner life," concluded Puan.
