Supporting The Smooth Flow Of Homecoming 2024, Hutama Karya Functions Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 1A

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) functionally operates the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Toll Road Section 1A in Central Java during the 2024 Eid homecoming period.

"To support connectivity during the 2024 Eid homecoming, the Kaligawe Bridge will be operated functionally from D-10 Lebaran so that the homecoming flow can run smoothly, where other work will be stopped during the homecoming and return flow of Lebaran," said Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim in his official statement, Wednesday, April 3.

Adjib said that on the bridge there were also signs and other road equipment, such as markings, water barriers, concrete barriers, street lighting to traffic information in the form of banners.

Hutama Karya also opened a monitoring post to monitor traffic flow as well as the main condition of the work area.

During the Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri momentum, Hutama Karya continued to accelerate the construction of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 1A project in Semarang, with progress as of the end of March 2024 reaching 31.47 percent.

He added that in Section 1A, his party worked on three parts, namely the Kaligawe Bridge, a transition bridge from the Kaligawe Bridge to the flyover (approach) and an elevated flyover (ellevated) toll structure of 1.75 kilometers (km).

"This project runs with significant progress from the initial plan and is targeted for completion in April 2025 and will later function to facilitate traffic and prevent tidal flooding in the Kaligawe and Sayung areas," he said.

Until now, the work that has been completed is the construction of the Kaligawe Bridge and its access roads (oprit) and the under-bridge area, including the lower bend of the bridge which is often inundated due to flooding.

The work that is still ongoing is in the Kaligawe Bridge area, namely the Semarang ABC toll road and exit, widening access to Kaligawe Street and transitioning existing structures.

Then, in the approach area, preparation is being carried out and in the elevated area the construction is being carried out, structural work is under the column (pilecap), column work, column head work (pier head) and other structural work.

It is known that this toll road was built to meet the needs of road networks in the northern coastal area (Pantura) of Central Java Province, as a solution to the tidal flood problem in Semarang City and Demak Regency as well as several areas of Pantura Java caused by a combination of climate change and land subsidence.

As a sea embankment, this toll road will be equipped with a retention pond. Thus, it becomes unique in itself.

In accelerating construction, the implementation of lean construction is carried out for effective planning, the use of digital construction technology in the design, control and evaluation of work as well as other significant things that can help with work.

Adjib said that his party was committed to completing the toll road which is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) according to the target. So, it can immediately cut the travel time from Semarang to Demak which has been taken within 1.5 hours to 20 minutes and improve the local economy.

"With the progress that has been achieved, the presence of this project will be able to provide significant benefits for the community," he added.
