Ahead Of Eid Al-Fitr 2024, Satpol PP Orders Beggars And Buskers In Central Jakarta Areas

JAKARTA - Joint officers from the Central Jakarta Satpol PP and Social Service Sub-dept. together with the TNI reached 33 Social Welfare Service Providers (PPKS) in outreach activities in eight sub-districts in the area on Wednesday, April 3.

Head of the Civil Servant Investigation Section (PPNS) and Operations of the Central Jakarta Satpol PP, Ildan Adi Bayu, said that his party had intensified outreach activities since March 22, 2024. Periodically, outreach or raids took turns to eight sub-districts.

"Yesterday, as a closure, we carried out simultaneously in 8 sub-districts. As a result, 33 PPKS were reached and have been handed over to orphanages," said Bayu.

The outreach activity on Tuesday, April 2, was carried out after an apple was held at the city level at 15.00 WIB. Furthermore, officers were divided into 8 sub-districts to conduct sweeps to locations prone to the spread of PPKS.

A total of 115 joint personnel consist of 90 personnel from the Central Jakarta Satpol PP, 20 personnel from the Central Jakarta Social Service Sub-dept. and five members of the TNI who were involved in the outreach operation.

Head of Central Jakarta Satpol PP, TP Purba said the outreach operation was carried out because it was getting closer to Eid al-Fitr 1445 H, many PPKS were found in a number of locations.

The modes are also increasingly diverse, such as mothers bringing their children to sing at red lights, hawkers and buskers.

"It is unethical to let our brothers and sisters stay on the streets. That's why after outreach we put them in an orphanage and get coaching," said Purba.

Purba explained, while in the orphanage later they will receive various skills training. With this skill, after the coaching process is expected to be a provision for them to earn income.
