Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison, Supreme Court Secretary Inactive Hasbi Hasan Files An Appeal

JAKARTA - Secretary of the inactive Supreme Court (MA) Hasbi Hasan filed an appeal against the 6-year prison sentence handed down by the panel of judges at the verdict hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor).

The submission was made after Hasbi briefly consulted with his legal adviser.

"Because the time is pressed for entering the holidays. So after consultation, we will still file an appeal," said Hasbi after reading the verdict by the panel of judges, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 3.

Chief Judge Toni Irfan said the convict had the right to take legal action against the verdict handed down by the panel of judges, so he invited Hasbi to consult with his legal adviser.

Apart from the convict Hasbi, the judge said that the public prosecutor also had the same rights. However, based on the decision against Hasbi, the Public Prosecutor of the Corruption Eradication Commission (JPU KPK) through Wawan Yunarwanto stated that the public prosecutor would think about it (consideration) first for seven days.

Hasbi was sentenced to 6 years in prison in connection with the bribery case in the case of bankruptcy in the Intidana Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP) at the cassation level in the Supreme Court.

In addition to imprisonment, Hasbi was also subject to a fine of Rp. 1 billion on the condition that if the fine was not paid, it was replaced with imprisonment for 6 months. He was also sentenced to an additional penalty in the form of payment of compensation of Rp. 3.88 billion, subsidiary to 1 year in prison.
