IUP Corruption Case, PT Timah Boss Still Investigating Internal Company Losses
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Timah (Persero) Tbk (TINS) Ahmad Dani Virsal opened his voice regarding the corruption case of PT Timah Tbk's Mining Business License (IUP) during 2015-2022 which cost the state Rp271 trillion.
Virsal admitted that his party could not provide further comments regarding the estimated loss because the results were issued by environmental experts.
Just so you know, the estimated loss was issued by an environmental expert from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) Bambang Hero Saharjo who stated that the loss was a loss due to environmental damage in forest areas and non-forest areas.
"If that's the domain of environmental experts, so we can't make a counter or anything, because it was announced by experts in the field. Experts in the environment," he told the media crew in Senayan, quoted Wednesday, April 3.
Regarding the company's internal losses, Virsal admitted that his party was still investigating what had happened over the past 5 years since 2018.
"We are also investigating what exactly happened over the past 5 years. We are currently investigating and investigating internally as well as from existing contracts and cooperation," explained Virsal.

Regarding the indications of illegal lead from PT Timah's IUP, Virsal admitted that there was indeed a mining practice without a permit (PETI) or illegal mining that occurred in the mining area of PT Timah and outside the PT Timah area such as forest areas.
"Timah is not illegal, but basically taking it is illegal, how to take it illegally," continued Virsal.
To overcome the practice of illegal mining, Virsal said that his party had collaborated with Law Enforcement Officials (APH) to carry out enforcement.
"We have carried out internal control ourselves. In collaboration with the local APH, we will carry out control," he concluded.
