This Is The Cause Of Insurance Companies Not Presenting Special Protection For EVs

JAKARTA - Along with increased awareness of the environment, a number of people began to have electric vehicles (EVs) which were known to not produce emissions.

Although the trend of electrification is increasing in Indonesia, there is not a single insurance company that has a program to protect its customers' EVs. What makes them not want to offer protection for this emission-free vehicle?

President Director of Zurich Syariah Hilman Simanjuntak, explained that the concept of combustion engine (ICE) and EV vehicles is very different, so it needs to be reviewed and waiting for special regulations from the OJK regarding this matter.

"Because a number of risks of EV damage are very different from emission machines, so they must be separated, so the premium must be right," Hilman said during a joint opening event with the media in Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 2.

In addition, Hilman thinks that there are a number of factors that determine the company's role in determining insurance premiums for EVs, one of which is battery damage considering that this component has a high price among others

One of the things that is considered is the battery component with the greatest value. Second, our knowledge of EVs is still small. The goods are still new and not many people understand the technology," said Hilman.

However, his party has borne a number of electric vehicles belonging to customers but with the same offer as other combustion engine vehicles.

"Currently we have covered dozens of electric vehicles. However, the products are still in the form of Sharia Autocilin, such as other types of cars," concluded Hilman.
