Microsoft Officially Separates Teams Services From Offices Globally

JAKARTA After separating Teams services from Office products in Europe, Microsoft has now announced that they are officially separating both products globally. This update is implemented from April 1. Quoting from Reuters, Microsoft stated that it wants to make its services clear globally. Therefore, policies implemented in Europe and Switzerland in October last year will also be implemented to all customers in the world. "To ensure clarity for our customers, we expanded the steps we took last year to separate Teams from M365 and O365 in the European Economic Zone and Switzerland to customers globally," a Microsoft spokesperson said. Initially, Microsoft separated Teams from Office services because the company was sued by Slack, its competing app, in 2020. Microsoft allegedly got unfair profits for packing several products in one service.

To avoid fines that may have been imposed on competitors' lawsuits, Microsoft decided to separate their services. Apparently, the effort to separate these two products did not have a major impact on customers so Microsoft began to expand its policies.Rishi Lineia, RBC analyst Capital Markets, said that this separation had no drastic impact because of its different service functions. From the start, Teams has also been attached to workflows in several companies. Now, new customers have to pay 7.75 US dollars (Rp123 thousand) to 54.75 US dollars (Rp871 thousand) to buy Office services without Teams. Meanwhile, the Teams Sadallone service will be opened at a price of 5.25 US dollars (Rp83 thousand).
