This Is The Reason The Constitutional Court Asked 4 Ministers Jokowi To Testify At The 2024 Presidential Election Session On Friday

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Constitutional Court (MK), Enny Nurbaningsih, explained the reason why his party summoned four ministers of the Advanced Indonesia cabinet to provide information in the trial to prove the dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) or the dispute over the 2024 presidential election on Friday, April 5.

According to Enny, this summons was made because the four ministers were closely related to the arguments and evidence submitted by the disputed parties.

The disputed parties include the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD as the applicant, the KPU as the respondent, the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the related party, and Bawaslu as the information giver.

"As the arguments of the petitioners, the evidence submitted, the KPU's answers, the statements of related parties, and Bawaslu, what needs to be explored further are the four parties," Enny told reporters, Monday, April 1.

Enny is optimistic that the four ministers will be willing to attend to provide information so that the constitutional judges have a complete understanding of the arguments of the disputed parties in the Constitutional Court.

"The summons will be submitted by the Constitutional Court legally and appropriately so of course they will attend," said Enny.

Previously, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo said that eight constitutional judges had decided in a panel of judges (RPH) to summon the four ministers to attend the trial for dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election. The four ministers were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini. In addition, the Constitutional Court also summoned parties from the Election Organizing Honorary Council (DKPP).

"This is solely for the benefit of the judges. In simple language, we reject the petitioners' petition, but we take a separate stance because the positions of the judges choosing these parties are seen as important to be heard at the trial, which hopefully can be carried out on Friday, April 5, 2024," he said at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta, yesterday.

Suhartoyo also emphasized that only constitutional judges will ask the four ministers when they provide information at the hearing to prove the 2024 presidential election dispute on Friday, April 5. Because the four of them were asked for information for the benefit of the court.

"Because this is a statement requested by the court, later we will not provide time for the parties to ask questions. So the judges will investigate," concluded Suhartoyo.
