PT LIB as the operator of Liga 1 has indeed decided in a letter numbered 428/LIB-COR/III/2024 that the remaining competition matches will be postponed until May 3, 2024. This decision was taken because the U-23 Indonesian national team will appear in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.
Regarding the information on the postponement, the head of the Persebaya implementing committee (panpel), Ram Surahman, opened his voice. For him, the decision was clearly surprising.
However, the main step that Persebaya's committee will definitely take is to calculate the amount of losses from the sudden cancellation of Liga 1.
Moreover, said Ram, currently the Persebaya committee has actually sold tickets to the Persebaya vs Dewa United match and is preparing carefully.
After calculating the losses, Panpel will then report to the management.
"The Panpel is still calculating the losses from this sudden cancellation. Later, we will report to the management," said Ram Surahman in a statement quoted Monday, April 1, 2024.
After being calculated, the management and committee will consider submitting the value of the loss of preparation for the match to PT LIB, as the operator of Liga 1.
"Later on, we will report to the management first, to consider whether it is necessary to file a loss to PT LIB as the operator," said Ram.
Despite the losses that overshadow Persebaya, this delay has made all matches for the 31st week of Liga 1 2023/2024 which was originally scheduled to be held starting April 1, 2024.
The plan is that the competition will continue after the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar which will be held on April 15, May 3, 2024.
