KPU: Candidates For Regional Heads Can Register For Regional Head Elections In 2 Ways
YOGYAKARTA - Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said there were two lines of registration for regional head candidates in the 2024 Simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada).
The two lines are registrations nominated by political parties or coalitions of political and individual or independent parties.
"There are two nominations, namely the nomination path nominated by political parties or a combination of political parties and then the second is the individual route," said Hasyim in the Prambanan Temple area, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta, Sunday night quoted by ANTARA.
Hasyim revealed that the registration of individual pathways was carried out earlier. The reason is, individual candidates can register themselves as regional head candidates if they meet the requirements for population support on the permanent voter list (DPT) in the final election.
This is regulated in Article 41 of Law 10 Number 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 1 of 2015 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors into Laws. "Is it a provincial or district/city area that will hold elections," he said.
Meanwhile, nominations through political parties require the acquisition of seats or votes for the DPRD/province elections for governor elections (pilgub). Then, political parties or coalitions of political parties based on the acquisition of seats or votes for district/city DPRDs.
However, Hasyim explained that for the path of political parties, the KPU is still waiting for confirmation whether or not there is a dispute over the election results of the provincial DPRD and district/city DPRD.
