PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono Inaugurates Rehabilitation Of Baitul Arham Mosque In Sumenep Worth IDR 8.47 Billion
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono inaugurated the rehabilitation work of the Baitul Arham Mosque in Sumenep Regency, East Java, recently.
The rehabilitation work for the Baitul Arham Mosque itself has been completed by the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR from March to October 2023 with a contract value of Rp. 8.47 billion.
The budget is used to renovate main gates, mosque towers, main mosque rooms, takmir rooms, ablution rooms, storage rooms, management rooms, parking lots, drainage and garbage disposal sites.
The construction work is carried out by CV Artha Media Persada and construction management of PT Adhi Hutama Konsulindo.
Basuki said that the existence of this mosque is expected to be truly beneficial for the community. Not only as a place of worship, but also as a way to encourage educational activities, da'wah and other Islamic activities.
"I hope that after the renovation, this mosque can be more developed not only as a place of prayer, but also as a place for other Islamic activities, such as studies and consultations. As a result, this mosque must be able to become a center for fostering the surrounding community," he said in his official statement, quoted Monday, April 1.

For your information, the Baitul Arham Mosque is a symbol of the diversity of the local community that upholds the values of tolerance. In the area, there are three (3) houses of worship that are close to each other, namely Baitul Arham Mosque, Maria Gunung Kamel Catholic Church and Kltengurul Cian Lin Kong (Kong Hu Chu).
The mosque was established in 1948 by adopting the architectural style of the blending of Java and Islam and located on Berekok Street, Pabian Village, Sumenep Regency, or about 10 minutes from Trunojoyo Sumenep Airport.
