Army Chief Of Staff Apologizes For The Ammunition Warehouse Explosion Incident
JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak apologized to the public for the explosion of the Regional Munition Warehouse (Gud cheap) of Kodam Jaya in Ciangsana Village, Gunung Putri, Bogor Regency, West Java, Saturday (30/3) night.
"We apologize to the public, especially for this incident," said Maruli when giving a statement to the media crew at Gunung Putri, Bogor, Sunday.
Maruli is grateful that there were no casualties in the Gudwarah Kodam Jaya explosion, although there were hundreds of residents who fled for security reasons.

According to Maruli, the warehouse stores disposal ammunition or classified as destroyed. The Indonesian Army immediately rescheduled the type of ammunition so that similar incidents would not happen again.
"The current conditions at the scene have been damaged, all destroyed. In the future, all types of ammunition will be sorted, previously combined, because of various types and of course they will be evaluated," said Maruli.
Then regarding the feasibility of the ammunition warehouse, Maruli emphasized that his condition was still relatively safe because it was built in 2000. Of the total 10 warehouses, only one warehouse exploded and six other warehouses caught fire.
Maruli added that his institution will also implement special maintenance regarding the storage of ammunition in warehouses.
"Actually, the disposal plan should have run out of Eid, but the long process must first be reported to the TNI Headquarters, then checked again," he said.
