Fire Of Paldam Jaya Munisi Warehouse, Pangdam Calls No Evacuation Of Residents

JAKARTA - Pangdam Jaya Maj. Gen. Mohamad Hasan said he did not evacuate residents in the fire incident that occurred in the warehouse of the Paldam Jaya munitions. The reason is that the community was only affected by the sound of the explosion.

"There are no evacuations from residents, no. Wong, the residents were only affected by the explosion," Hasan told reporters, Saturday, March 30.

However, Hasan stated that he had asked the police for help to urge residents to return the ammunition or material that was thrown when the explosion occurred.

As a result of the explosion, several casings were bounced to the settlement of residents. This also caused the surrounding community to worry and fear.

"To secure if there are ammunition or material projects from this warehouse to be secured," he said.

In addition, the Pangdam also emphasized that the warehousing system was in accordance with procedures. Where, the expired ammunition is stored in a bunker. Then, there is no electricity in the warehouse.

"We assure you again that the warehousing system is in accordance with procedures, in all bunkers, especially since the ammunition that expired is actually safe if there is an explosion," he said.

"But we don't know it's called a disaster, it flies everywhere, only a few pieces are possible to get to people's homes," Hasan continued.

Hasan also stated from the data received, there were no casualties as a result of the explosion and fire. Both from members of the TNI and local residents. "Nothing," said Hasan.

Meanwhile, the explosion occurred at around 18.40 WIB. According to amateur videos circulating, the fire soared as a result of the explosion, creating panic around the area.
